BP Publishing 101: Breaking Rules

I can't tell you how many times I've been told that I should do something a certain way and when I ask why, the short answer is basically because that's the way that it is done.

Here at Bootstrap Publications (BP) we do things our way. This mean we don't always follow all the "rules" or "norms". We are completely ok with that. We are artists. We don't do things because that's the way they are supposed to be done, although we do take traditional approaches into account and make decisions that we think are best after evaluating the pros and cons.

For example, sometimes we don't use correct grammar. Which means that an entire audience won't like our publications, or take us seriously. We are ok with that! We believe that an entire other audience who has been ignored will take us seriously and understand what we are saying with our work.

Another example is putting forewords and introductions into our books. Typically those are reserved for certain "types" of books. Not at BP. We love us a good foreword. We try to put them into all of our books from our poetry collections to our children's books. I mean #whynot!

Publishing is an old trade, with long standing traditions, and a tight knit network that is exclusive making it hard to break into. Thanks to advancements in technology, things are changing. We are proud to do things our way, and invite you to do the same. Follow your intuition. If you have more questions feel free to reach out on Facebook, or connect with me on Instagram!
